Sending & receiving music should be easy
How come it's still so annoying to send and receive music from people? We think the current ways of doing it suck and that our music deserves better. This is a quick tour of our solution that makes sending & receiving music easy, efficient and exciting again.
Ever had trouble sending a track to somebody?
Email, FTP or the MegaSuperSendFile-type websites really suck for sending music. SoundCloud is dedicated to music only and specifically designed to make sending tracks a super fast and hassle-free experience.
Fast, but flexible
Sometimes you only have 30 seconds to send a track. No problem, just upload, click send and you’re done. For other tracks you might have more time to add artwork, genre-info and then send a nice looking pre-release to your promotion list. Either way, the uploader is fast and smooth without putting any clutter in your way.
Any audio format, any size
Manage contacts, or not
You can add people as SoundCloud contacts and easily give them access to your track with a single click. Or, use email addresses and send the track directly to one or a few hundred people. For any track you send you can always check exactly who has access and who has listened or downloaded.
Tracks can be sent as downloadable or just streamable - your choice.
Inbox cluttered with email-attachments, links and log-in info?
What happened? When did it become such a hassle to receive digital music? Wasn’t it supposed to be easier than CDs and vinyl? Keeping track of several FTP log-ins, saving the file sending links for a download session next week and downloading email attachments seems like the only way to do it, right?
The Dashboard: Listen first, download later
Receive your new tracks in your dashboard where you can quickly listen through, remove, comment or favorite them, before deciding if you want to download. One log in, one place, don’t worry about the links. Think of the dashboard as your music inbox, but with a play button.
Your inbox now has a play button
DropBox on your site
Want people to send you music? Put a SoundCloud DropBox on your own site or myspace page and let any visitor instantly send you a track. You’ll receive them nicely arranged on SoundCloud making it easy to scan through before you download anything.
"You know that bass swoosh sound just before the part right after the break? Do you know where I mean?"
Sometimes talking about music is a bit tricky. So, to make it easier every single track on SoundCloud has a kick-ass online player with track waveform. Like this one from Howie B.
Waveforms & Timed Comments
For every track you send or receive you can start a conversation at any point in the track by putting in a timed comment anywhere in waveform. Very simple, very effective.
Have you ever uploaded the same track over and over again?
Since the web is pretty big its easy to spend lots of time uploading your same released track over and again to different websites. We think that’s a bit of a drag. If your track is publicly streamable we make it easy for you to let it roam the web.
Embed your track, with style
Either just grab the standard player for any public track and go embed it on your webpage, or if you’re into pimping just pop-up the simple player customizer to get that look and feel you want.
Put a player on your site, then forget about it
Embed a latest-tracks-player on any of your sites or social network profiles and then kick back. Whenever you put a new public track up on SoundCloud all of your players across the web will automatically be updated to show your latest tracks. Latest first. Always.
