We have set up this page for our open mic stage for Burning Man 2016. Everyone is welcome to come and play and make music on our art and sound car - preferably acoustic and analog performances during the day and DJ sets and dance music at night.
Here, you can have a little taste of what you can expect to hear on the playa. All artists who are willing to perform on our stage and want to share their creations are welcome to send links to their original works.
We will try to record as many shows as possible and with the permission of the artist, we'll upload them here. We would like to keep soundcloud for more acoustic and shorter material and www.mixcloud.com/analogpegasus for longer sets.
ANALOG•PEGASUS
‘’AWAKEN THE ARTIST WITHIN”
Analog•Pegasus is a San Francisco based creative community around a Burning Man art and sound-car of the same name. “Analog’’ in the sense that we are incorporating as many analog aspects into our art and sound-making as possible, in this otherwise overwhelmingly digital world. ‘’Pegasus’’ because it is a globally recognized symbol of inspiration during the Renaissance and well known to be a friend of the muses in Ancient Greece.
We believe, and have experienced first-hand, that there is an artist in each of us yet, sometimes, there is a fear to let that artist shine through. Our main goal is to help awaken the artist within those who feel intimidated by the idea of creating art or music or who used to have that desire, but have since lost their inspiration. Artist can refer to anything from a poet, writer, painter, composer, singer, dancer, or burner.
One major aspect of Analog·Pegasus is the art studio on her back that will provide the space, tools, and soundtrack for anyone to come and participate in the creation of a collective diary at this year’s Burning Man. The theme for 2016 is ‘’Letters of Love’’ and encourages you to write, draw, or paint a love letter to a stranger, lover, lost-one or whomever inspires you. The theme is a loose idea or guideline and anything that can be put on paper is welcome. There will be guides to give some pointers or direction, if needed. We will host daily creative writing and art workshops as well. After Burning Man, the completed artwork will be scanned and made into a book called, Letters of Love.
The second major aspect of this project is the stage which will feature a high quality sound-system with multiple inputs, microphones, and an array of instruments donated by the community. We welcome everyone to come and unleash their creativity at our ever-open, open mic stage, whether solo, with friends, or with the guidance and support of professional musicians. We’re looking to showcase all levels, styles and genres from acoustic, to punk, to DJs who will keep us dancing together until sunrise. If everything goes as planned, we will also have a 15-20 foot crane with silk for aerialists to jump on and amaze us with their skills.
We will record as many of these shows as possible and later upload them to the digital realms to share globally.
During the day, we will take refuge under a massive 40 foot in diameter mega-umbrella built by da Vinci’s students specifically for Burning Man. This shade, towed by Analog·Pegasus, will cover an area of 1200 square feet and can hide 250-300 refugees from the brutal desert sun. We anticipate it will be the largest mobile shade structure on the playa this year.

We’re going to need a lot of help before, during and after Burning Man, from fundraising, to building, to running workshops to editing and everything in between.
