Lil' C Corleone
North Carolina
Christopher LeMarc Peterson (Born February 3, 1991), better known by his stage name Lil’ C. Corleone, is an upcoming American rapper, singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur from Smithfield, North Carolina. Coming from humble beginnings and being a hard worker, the North Carolina spitter is ready to show why he’s next. When it comes to knowing the origins of an artist, name recognition is a story we all love. Lil’ C. Corleone began his musical journey in 2003 and originally chose the stage name “Lil’ C”, with the letter “C” being the initial letter to his first name. The “Lil” was influenced by artists such as Lil’ Romeo and Lil’ Bow Wow. As to why he calls himself Lil’ C. Corleone, he later added the name “Corleone” due to his love for “The Godfather” movie, and its popular character Michael Corleone. Giving some insight he explains “Corleone lived by many principles that I follow such as loyalty, honesty, and the code of silence.”
Coming from a smaller market like Smithfield, North Carolina has its hurdles. Many big cities like Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta are better fit for a journey in entertainment. But the era of the internet has changed the game and allowed many artists to reach fans at the snap of a finger. Of course, Lil’ C. Corleone didn’t let being from a small town stop him, as he stayed on his grind. From passing out CDs to even constantly uploading tracks to Myspace to even a short group stint, of all things he made sure he stayed consistent. No matter how big he gets he will always rep Smithfield to the fullest. Growing up in Smithfield, Corleone loved to hang out and eat at “Cricket's Grill” and “Crazy Taco” along with playing video games and basketball with his homies which kept him out of trouble while still pursuing his music dreams.
When it comes to musical influence Lil’ C. Corleone has many, such as Drake, King Los, and Eminem. “I rock with Drake & King Los heavy, they both can spit hard but also give a smooth R&B vibe to their tracks the way I would, which is why I have the alias “Cico Suave”, I rap and sing myself” Corleone explains. Drake for sure is one of his dream collaborations, that he hopes to do one day. What separates him from many though, he explains, is the great transition from hobby to business and the game he learned over the years. He goes on to say “many artists just get stuck in making art and don’t know the business and I’ve learned a lot about the business over the years which helped my career tremendously”. While building his brand as an indie artist he looks to do a partnership if majors come calling and nothing less, as he explains it just has to make sense.
In 2011 Lil’ C. Corleone and close friend Grizzola Millian (earlier known as Spaz Grizzly) entered the Fast Track artist mentoring program founded by Krayzie Bone of Bone Thugs N Harmony. The program was created to scout new artists for Krayzie Bone’s record label “The Life Entertainment”. Fulfilling all of the requirements of the program, Lil’ C. Corleone and Grizzola Millian were selected to sign an artist deal with The Life Entertainment and record two singles with Krayzie Bone. Although the deal never came to fruition, Lil’ C. Corleone and Grizzola Millian were still able to feature on Krayzie Bone’s album “The Fixtape Vol. 4: Under The Influence”, on Track #14 “Ready 2 Go”.
Lil’ C. Corleone has new music on the way and his past releases include “Work in Progress” in 2011 to “So Far Faded” in 2015 and his album “It’s Different This Time” in 2018 all released under his independent label Bad Dawg Productions.
