Y serious? Marrakech “Y serious?” (“Y?”) is an art concept born in Marrakech and bridged to Pristina, which combines underground electronic music to visual arts: simple. Along with the label we tailor events to promote artists from across the world in a blend of visuals and music. We started off by organizing events in offset locations to offer local artists the right platform to freely express themselves. Hard to box into one musical genre, we like to think we glide between tech and deep house with melodies and grooves inspired by the orient and driving rythms. Why we called it “Y serious?": simply because rules and dogmas limit the creative mind and we wanted people to make abstraction of it all. The context in which Y serious? was born has its share of underpinnings: the Arab spring showed that there was a youth seeking an escape route from a culture heavy with dogmas. Art became a symbol of contestation and revolution empowering people with freedom of vision. By mixing quality underground electronic music to subliminal visual arts, mostly under the form of projections, our aim was to offer our followers a new way of experiencing the party scene. Create a physical and virtual space where artistic creation through music and visual arts in its wider sense to give it its fullest dimension. Given the success of our past events, our passion has naturally grown to include a music label that we hope best expresses Y Serious?’s orientations and serves as our contribution to the global electronic scene.
